Bright Beginnings is home-based childcare in a unique setting. The house was purchased for the sole purpose of creating a quality child centered environment with the warmth and comfort of home. The day is spent following a schedule that incorporates structured group activity as well as time for independent discovery. A preschool curriculum is in place that is designed and implemented by the provider.
Creativity and imagination...
At Bright Beginnings you will not find a television or toys with batteries. All items are carefully selected with the ultimate goal of creating an environment rich in opportunity for imaginative play. Centers are set up around the rooms that have new items rotated weekly to create variety and maintain interest.
Independence and self-help...
Children are encouraged to be independent and take charge of their day. Self-help skills are taught starting at a young age and many times older children assume the role of 'teacher' with the younger children.
Conflict and problem solving...
Children are expected to be respectful of their friends and to actively participate in conflict resolution. Second Step is a supplemental curriculum used to aide in this process. Second Step teaches empathy, problem solving, and anger management. Mixing ages...
Being a part of a group with mixed ages has advantages for all children. It allows the older children to mentor the younger children and take on a leadership role within the group. On the other end of the spectrum the younger children are in a position to learn from the older children by watching their examples and following their cues.
Quality care...
